And now they know...

We recently made plans to travel to Washington (state) to visit Jack's parents (a.k.a. granny and grandpa) in late September. It was our intention to wait a while to tell the kids...I knew that it would be very hard for them to wait for 2 months for the big day to arrive. So, Jack has been SO excited to tell them that he couldn't take it any longer and against my better judgment I agreed that we would tell them. We told them last night...let's just say that after we told them it was a LONG couple of hours until bedtime. Ryan (being the 4 year old constant question asker) spent the rest of the evening asking and trying to understand exactly how long he would have to wait for this airplane adventure. Before bedtime...there were tears and frustration. For the record, Jack acknowledged that I had been RIGHT!! This was of course followed with my "i told you so" dance...joking.

SOLUTION: Mommy quickly whipped up a calendar so that we can mark off the days until we leave on a jet plane. This seems to really help them grasp how many days they will have to wait for our trip out west.
It also helps that there is a trip to my parents (a.k.a. Nana and Pop) just around the corner. I've distracted them with their trip this weekend and after that they're gonna start soccer. Maybe we'll survive the next two months.
