Pecan Allergy Info

This is not a post to provide you with important pecan allergy information but to share something that I found amusing.

Let me start by saying that it is almost 11pm here and I am on the computer doing some allergy and medication research after an exhausting couple of hours with Kylee Anne at the Med Stop due to a reaction to pecans. She is doing fine now and is FINALLY asleep! Later, I will post the whole story and the outcome so that everyone will be up to date.

Read the following SPECIAL ALLERGY ALERT NOTICE and take note of the bold highlighted statement. It just really struck me as entertaining. I found this on www.foodallergy.org which is actually a very good site with great updates on recalled products due to food allergy risks.

"Special Allergy Alert NoticePECAN ALLERGY ALERT January 22, 2008
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is recalling 1.75-qt. packages of “Dreyer’s Slow Churned Light Caramel Delight” ice cream and “Dreyer’s Slow Churned Light Butter Pecan” ice cream due to undeclared pecans.
The ice cream was distributed in Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Wyoming.
The 1.75-qt. packages are coded on the bottom with “Best If Purchased By 09/11/08 049-32.”
Consumers who have purchased the ice cream may call (888) 837-4438 for a full refund."

Recalled BUTTER PECAN ice cream due to undeclared PECANS!! WHAT?? I'm thinking that if you have a pecan allergy, DO NOT eat things with the word pecan in the title!! RIGHT? I'm gonna have to agree with Dr. Phil and ask what in the world ever happened to "good ole' common sense"?
