We're gettin' a little greener around here!

Ok, so I told you already that we went to the commissary yesterday and it was an adventure. I didn't tell you about my first "attempt at being greener" shopping trip.

First of all, let me say, that when I think about the term "going green", it seems like an overwhelming daunting task. Well, I've been buying the canvas reusable bags at our commissary on each of my last few trips. So, yesterday, I finally remembered to take them with me. YAY!! Let me say, if you haven't gotten any of these reusable bags yet, they are really awesome. OH MY GOODNESS, they hold SOOOO much stuff. Instead of having to carry in like 20 little plastic bags, I had 7 bags of stuff (with 2 weeks worth of groceries).
These reusable bags are inevitable, you know. I recently read an article about how Wal Mart will soon follow Ikea's lead and start charging for plastic bags (when i say soon, i mean in the next few years). This weekend China is banning all plastic bags.

We've made a couple of other switches too. I buy the Seventh Generation dishwasher gel and I mostly use vinegar and baking soda for cleaning around the house (if you didn't know about vinegar and baking soda, do some research. AWESOME CLEAN!!) We switched to the fluorescent light bulbs (well, when a current bulb goes that is what we replace it with) and we try to teach the kids little things like turning off lights, etc... when we aren't using them and not wasting the water in the bathroom sink.

Anyway, small things help too, right??
